Let’s look at this a little bit closer. There are many people who pooh – pooh the idea of how healing ‘Gratitude’ can be. The definition from Google – gratitude noun, the quality of being thankful; readiness to show appreciation for and to return kindness. Most often we forget to look at what we have because we are too busy looking at what others have instead.
That just breeds and continues the energy of ‘lack’. When we feel we are lacking something, and it may not even be something that we need, we just know we want to have it – NOW!
Why?
Well Messrs. Jagger & Richards of the Rolling Stones wrote a song way back in 1965, (yes, when some of you were still stardust specks in the Universe.) The time of all things new. The time when the younger generation began to have their own voice and when consumerism was taking a great leap. The advertising agencies had their ears like never before. You can look up the lyrics, listen to the song – the energy of it is quite something. A tirade, I feel, against the idea that actually if we listen, and dear children we did – we listened very well, we would understand how great and wonderful life could be with all these material things.
He’s tellin’ me more and more about some useless information
Supposed to fire my imagination’.
It continues.
How white my shirts can be
But, he can’t be a man ’cause he doesn’t smoke
The same cigarettes as me’.
I wondered a little about where that came from – apart from the extension of Alice in Wonderland and that famous ‘rabbit hole’ there is in Native American culture Red & Blue Roads On The Medicine Wheel
There are so many ‘roads’ to Spiritual enlightenment these days. So many crossovers and even with this there is sometimes a sense of ‘my guru is better than your guru’.
Part of the reason we seek is that our Souls are hankering for our healing. We are enough, we are most definitely enough as ourselves. We don’t need to be a size 0 or wear a Kardashian’s make-up/clothes range. However, with social media being all about the instantaneous there are just so many ‘wannabes’. Lotus Eaters
The home that is forgotten is the Soul. The stories we now tell ourselves is of things outside of ourselves. When we look – I mean really look at what we are being shown; in reality it is a bunch of people going from pillar to post, one ‘incident, slight, drama to another and all to be ‘famous’.
When we are awake and aware that we are not ornaments but here to walk sometimes a hard road – when we refuse the blue pill and take the red road, we learn once more to be grateful that the Sun rises everyday. That we breathe in and out without having to think about it. That we have people in our lives who teach us daily how to be in the world, even when that lesson is not especially easy to have given to us. That we have somewhere to be and somewhere to go when we need other’s help. That we are the ones to whom people will come for help. That we know we are loved and we can teach others that they too are loved and how to love themselves as they are, for who they are.
Gratitude begets Gratification which can also have other connotations as when the word instant is added as a prefix.
Let’s take it that being grateful brings it’s own rewards. Isn’t that the stuff that makes the world go round? What a thought eh?
